Break outa that mold!

Creativity lives in diversity!

It is said that “variety is the spice of life.”

And, yet, too many of us continue to pair the same top with the same bottom; always wearing the same outfits, never varying.

Break out of that mold!!

Each of us has favorite colors. And, if we’re smart—we know the colors that look best on us as individuals. If you don’t, you’re missing out on looking your best all the time! 🙂 Consult my pages on Seasonal Color Analysis.

P.S., I have a confession: I’m not always a good girl in wearing the colors that look best on me, so I can’t absolutely rebuke you if you’re not playing by the rules! Lol.

I try…but, sometimes, I like something so much, that, even if it’s borderline, I want it anyway. For example, I’m a winter—and cool, dark colors—jewel tones—look best on me. Howev‘, I love gold! But I try to have a cool color next to my face to help balance the warm color. Besides…have you ever noticed that a lot of manufacturers mix cool and warm colors on the same garment or in the same print?

Just try to have your correct color/ hue next to your face to look good, and not look washed out from wearing the wrong seasonal color.

Each of us is attracted to certain colors, a particular style of garment, patterns and prints in clothing, etc. So, as we search for those Bohemian threads in the profusion of dull, ordinary duds—UGH! what an awful word: ordinary—our closets begin to take on our own individual identity!

In other words, our choices begin to go together!

So, instead of always reaching for the same pants or skirt that you always wear with that top, spend an extra couple of minutes to see what else goes with the top, pants or skirt that you fancy for that day!

mixing printsTry mixing prints, stripes, plaids, each sharing one or more common colors that are the same hue. Mixing a print with a stripe with the supposed “common color” that doesn’t quite match, just looks icky! But, it can look really great and creative if done right (above).  🙂

bohoMixing patterns (right) that are really different can look terrifically funky… just be careful. 🙂

  • Stop wearing those nasty neutrals all the time.
  • Kick up a little fun by mixing florals and stripes… or, pair plaid with tye-die.
  • Cease that ugly habit of pulling out those same ol’ same-ol’s to wear!!

With just a few changes, you can create a whole different outfit!
