Make a Stylish Lace Fringe Poncho from two shawls!

Boy, is this an EASY project!

It took literally just a few minutes to make!!
DSC_0001 - shawlFind shawls:
I got two lace shawls at different times at the Goodwill Outlet, where merchandise is sold by the pound ( $1.19/ lb); and as soon as I found the second one, I knew what I wanted to do!
I looked online to find anything similar. Well, guess what? I found nearly exactly the same thing, marked for $49.90!!! Wow! …compared to pennies, ‘cuz you know a lace shawl is almost weightless!
Yippee!! 😀 I love it when that happens!

Find the center:
On each of two lace shawls, locate the center by folding each in half along the flat top side, and mark those points with pins.

Mark the center with two crossing pins.

Mark out the first shoulder seam:
Lay the shawls—right sides together—on a table, matching the center points.

Sew your shoulder seam between the 6-inch pin and the 18-inch pin.

Get your yardstick; lay it on the table. Measure 6 inches out from the center point in one direction. Mark it with a pin. Measure out another 12 inches past that—to the 18-inch line—mark it with a pin.
Sew that shoulder seam:
Take it to your machine and sew between the 6-inch mark and the 18-inch mark, removing the pins as you get to them. Turn your balance wheel to make the needle go down into your fabric, lift the presser foot, and turn your sewing around to make another line of stitches… so it’s double stitched. This will give your seam extra strength.
Do the same on the other side:
Put it back on the table and measure out and pin your 6-inch and 18-inch markers, going in the other direction. Sew between those markers, taking out the pins as you sew—as you did on the first shoulder—making a doubled-stitched seam again.

Try it on:
Now, turn it right side out and put it over your head. The side seams follow down your arms, and the long points go in front and back.

This would also make a great beach cover-up!!
