Hey Creative Bohemians!
Even though summer is now officially here, we—even in Florida, need a light wrap for air-conditioned places.
We love sleeveless in the summer, but going in from 80- and 90-degree temps into 60s and 70s, brings a chill.
We don’t want to carry around a bulky jacket—or, even a sweater. So, this easy DIY Bohemian tutorial is just the ticket!!
This little shrug is so convenient!
Not only is it a wrap for your shoulders and arms, it can still be used as a scarf, too!
Step 1:
Turn your scarf inside out—or, back side out.
Put your long scarf across your neck and shoulders, so that it hangs all along the length of one of your arms.
It doesn’t matter if it’s longer than your arm.
You’ll be fitting it only to your upper arm. Your lower arm will have freedom to move, with the scarf ends hanging at your side.
Step2:
As your scarf hangs along your arm (back side out), use the other hand to pinch it to fit your arm like a sleeve—but not too tightly.
This will be trial and error, as you pin, try it on, re-pin, try on, etc.
You can’t make your arm seam too close to your body or too snug on your arms, because you need to have room to put it on (like a jacket).
Be sure it’s centered so that each end hangs equally.
Step 3:
When you successfully make “sleeves,” whose seam will be only maybe four inches long, you’ll have extra width
beyond the seam of the “sleeve.”
To secure that seam and make it less likely to tear along the seam’s ends, I sewed a line of stitching perpendicular to the seam at each of the two ends of the seam—at right angles all the way to the edge of the scarf.
It’ll look like a rectangle with the fourth side being the edge of the scarf.
That’s it!
Just turn it right side out and…ENJOY!
…and, it’s small enough to tuck into your bag!
Well now that’s Boho Fabulous Daaahling!!!!!. I’m going to make one for my self – well several. What a beautiful idea.
Thanks Clarene/”Reeny,” there in Texas!! 🙂 Once you make one/some, show ’em on the group! https://www.facebook.com/groups/diybohemiangroup
I’m so glad you like it! Yeh, I want to make more, too. The idea was a flash of genius, if I do say so myself! Lol.
