Hey Boho Fashionistas!

Want a little inspiration for your bohemian style?

That’s my intention with this blog: to encourage you to use your imagination to stretch your wardrobe to its fullest potential!

I checked Pinterest for “scarf outfits.” I found many examples of the same thing…not much variation, at all.

Well, I’m here to tell you, you can use a scarf in a lot of different ways!

1  Does your outfit need a little something, but you don’t have an appropriate hat that does the trick?

Tie a swath of bright color around your head—in a hue that brings out a color in your ensemble.

2  Here, I wanted something to balance the jacket, as it made the outfit look top heavy. Tying a large scarf of a similar color around my hips accomplished the needed counterweight.

It also brought the “center of gravity” lower, elongating the look to give the illusion of greater height.

3  A brightly colored scarf tied around your waist, or just below it, can add a little panache.

You could also pull a scarf through the belt loops of your jeans!

4   Open up a large scarf to a folded triangle and tie it around your long gypsy skirt. I’ve done this many times.

5  I’m a fan of wearing a scarf around my shoulders, when I’m in spaghetti straps. It adds a

splash of color when balance is needed, or, simply completes the look; plus, adding a little gypsy flare.

Another reason is to give a touch of warmth to my shoulders for the lower temps of air conditioning.

6  If you have a couple of very large scarves, complementary in color and pattern, you can make an easy bohemian skirt!

7  Make a Kimono top out of a very large scarf! It’s easy!!

8 Scarves are so versatile! They add color, texture and a little glamor to your outfits!

Simply draping one across your shoulders adds a bit of bohemia and color.

9  Tying a scarf around your neck is a more traditional approach, but can also be a quite attractive addition to a more unconventional ensemble.

It means so much to hear from others, that people like my style. OXOX

  1. Girl you and Iris Apfel are my idols..love those clothes…don’t have the nerve to wear them that wild have them but don’t mix them like you guys do.

    1. Aw Mari!! Thanks for grouping me with Iris Apfel!! Wow! That’s quite a compliment!! I love her audacity!!! (Wow!!! I’m somebody”s idol!!!! Wow! Wow! WOW!!)

Mari, once I decided that I didn’t care about what others thought about the way I dressed, then it became very easy to just wear what I wanted to wear, to let my imagination go wild!! And, it’s surprising that when I finally made that decision, I was pleasantly surprised at the positive comments I’ve gotten—not only online, but in person. Yet, I suppose some people probably still look at me wondering what in the world I’m doing wearing that stuff! Lol! I don’t look around to see if people are looking: I think that’s an arrogant thing to do. But, Jerry—my hubby, says that people always look at me. I agree with Ms. Iris: I don’t dress to cause people to stare, I dress for me—just cuz it’s more fun than dressing like everybody else!!! They all look BORING!!!!! Lol.

      Blessings,
      Cindy

  2. I forget to tell you that you have a lovely figure & I’m a lover of long hair! Had some time today day and wanted to look more at how you create your outfits. I have dresses and skirts for years and I mix them up with jewelry, jackets, bags, scarves, shawls, boots and sandals. I love going to thrift shops but due to covid I haven’t been in awhile.
Unfortunately, I got rid of some cool looking frocks as I didn’t think I could redesign them. Looking at your tutorials I could have done so something to make them less frumpy. Oh well, live and learn. I going through my closet to see the possibilities.
How tall are you. I’m 5’6. I think I shrunk a little, lol. You look so good modeling your wares. 💃🏻

    1. Hey, my friend Katie. 😘
      I love hearing from you.

O my goodness! You’re so complimentary! Don’t worry, I don’t get a big head. It just makes me feel a little less inferior when somebody compliments me. I’ve felt bad about myself all my life. I think it started in elementary school, when I was sick EVERY winter with asthmatic bronchitis, and missed a lot of school. The kids always said, “You’re ALWAYS sick!” like I could help it!! I appreciate compliments, but feel they are mistaken in what they say. O well. But, thank you.❤ I AM thankful to have stayed small.

What a joy to me that you consider my blog a “go to!” Thank you!!!

Yeh, I, too, have kept clothes for a very long time. I’ve stayed pretty much the same size, and I like my clothes, and now that I’m more free in my style expression, I have fun mixing them up more. One of my faves is a cotton gauze shirt made in India. ❤ You know how I LOVE stuff made in India!! I remember I got this shirt in World Bazaar, a very cool imports store, back in the mid ’70s. 😁

You’re tall! I’m only 5’2″. Again, thank you for saying I “look so good” modeling my wares. Lol. I haven’t had a “modeling” session in months – months even before Jerry passed.

I recently found my tripod, so I no longer need to use a fence post!! Hopefully, when I do use it, the pix will be clearer. When I used a fence post, the action of setting it on the post bumped the focus ring.

I’ve been thinking I should try to create some new outfits for my blog…but, not right now…I’m really busy with animal work outside of my job. Thank God! …but, I haven’t had much time for my blog lately.

      Blessings,
      Cindy

  3. 5’2 & eyes of blue? Cindy, I really only say what I feel. My hair is growing good and I hope to be @ hip length by the end of summer. It was mid thigh length before I got ahold of the deadly ✂️ I had a wedding to go to & cut it shoulder length. Takes no time to cut hair off. Now if I ever get it in my head to chop off lots of inches, I’ll wait 2 weeks before I touch it & make sure at the end of that time, it’s what I really want to do!
I’ve stayed the same size as well. It’s fun to have something at 20 and you can still wear it.
Kids can be mean. I don’t know why that is. I know I’m a sensitive creature. My older sister had real bad asthma as a kid. Her teeth were a little prominent & she needed braces. My younger sister had real bad eyes and her glasses were so thick. Like I told you we moved a lot and new schools. I was the strongest & didn’t seem to have things kids would pick on, lucky, but I would defend my sisters and hated having others ever hurt their feelings. In fact I went after one girl who hit my sister with a wet towel as we were walking home from the pool. Shelley was ahead of me, her back was scarlet from being hit. I dug my heels into the ground and went like a bat out of hell & let me just say that bully never bothered anyone be it sister or friend. To this day my sister who doesn’t condone violence still thanks me & never forgot it.
Back to peace, love, grace, gratitude, joy and serenity. 🤗

    1. Nope…I have green eyes. Doesn’t rhyme with two, does it? Lol. Actually, just looked in the mirror: green around the pupils with gray encircling the green.

I’m so glad you’re letting your hair grow!!! Yes, scissors are the enemy unless tightly controlled. Mine is approaching trim time, but, I can’t bring myself to do it yet. Lol. I’m starting to sit on it again. I try to keep it just above that length.

Lol. As you say…it takes years to grow it, and a moment to blow it!! Every time I see a woman who has had long hair cut it, it’s always a mistake to me. Why look like everybody else? So many women chop their hair off when they get “older,” whatever that means!! Lol. At 67, I still don’t feel “older!” I tell people I’m going on 25!! Lol.
I’m very sensitive, too. When someone puts me down, I really feel it! But, I also hurt for others who are treated badly. I think some people have a poor self image and, to try to boost themselves, they put other people down. I wouldn’t think that would work. I’m glad you defended others who were not as strong as you. ox

  4. Oh a green eyed lady! I don’t look or feel my age, at least that is what I’m told. In NY it’s changing a bit but use to be considered not professional @ work even if you had hair up. There are many here that think it’s only for young girls. I would notice when I would wear it down people would look or admire. When working at home or in garden i have it up or in some kind of braid. It gets in the way. I liked it when I first cut it shoulder length but quickly after I missed long flowing hair. In stead of being different & not following the crowd, I became like the crowd. The minute you do this, unless you really want to, you loose your uniqueness. There may have been some that really don’t like long hair but then no stares, no comments from strangers just coming up and saying they love your hair or clothing as you stand out.
To change the subject I have an Amish friend coming over to help us with project in barn. They wear very plain clothes, not much color at all. The women don’t cut their hair.
They believe in hard work & God. They don’t have pictures taken of themselves. Still, I find them fascinating as well due to their simplicity. I think I’m dual natured.
I appreciate many different groups. When they show up in their horse and buggy that certainly draws attention.
I do love your home page where you show the picture of crowd of people on the street and ugh, lol. I feel the same way. The Amish attract me as they have their own particular style. Not just throwing on any old thing. It’s in their quilts that they express their creativity and the men with their fabulous wood working skills. Okay Cindy, I’m not sure how I got on this topic. My mind can travel & i could talk about cooking next & … 😁

    1. I have never worked as a true professional in the atmosphere that requires a “uniform” look. So, my long hair has never been an issue work-wise. Yes, my hair gets in the way when I’m doing something…it’s up in a knot when I’m home. I agree: When a woman succumbs to cutting her hair short, she loses, not only her uniqueness, but, as in my case, I would lose part of my identity: I’ve had long hair 99% of my life.

I admire the Amish, though I don’t know much about them other than what you said. One reason: My photographer’s eye is attracted to them and their way of life – very picturesque. I could never live like that, though. But, they are born into that life and know no other way.

      I like your ramblings. 😀
