Bathroom Makeover

This is a work in progress.

I thought I would deviate from my “Red Wall series” because, though I’m still pursuing decorating my other room, I painted my bathroom and wanted to show you a couple of diy projects I did for the bathroom. This might inspire you to do something similar.

It all started with this $4 clock! Lol.

I have to credit my desire for a wall clock in the bathroom. If it weren’t for that clock, I would still have that tired, old couch, and would have never gotten the bug to redecorate!

Well, actually, the sad passing of my sweetie is what really started the desire for change:

I couldn’t bear going into the house, or being in the house, with everything the same as when Jerry was here. It was too sad and brought too many heart-breaking memories to the surface. As it is, I have a hard enough time trying not to remember his last few weeks instead of filling my thoughts with the good times. He just had a birthday April 1. Yes, he was an April fool baby. I miss him. It’s been over four months now. 🙁

The first thing I did in my bathroom was bring some life to it with color on the walls. It had been a creamy white, as was the whole house, originally.

All of my life I have lived in houses with light neutral walls. I wanted some COLOR!!

Soon after we moved in, 16 years ago, I painted some rooms, but never got it all accomplished.

At first, I tried Island Turquoise, thinking that would be great for a bathroom.

O my goodness! It was too much! It made me feel I was in a yucky old public restroom at a gas station.

I looked at some bathroom images online. I spotted one that was two-tone muted green. I liked it! So, that’s what I did. Now, my bathroom looks fresh and serene.

Next, I wanted a different shower curtain.

Y’all know how even the thought of anticipating spending big bucks on anything makes me cringe! …and how the Lord seems to direct my path in finding wonderful deals and in giving me ideas.

Shower curtains are expensive! So, I put my head on how I might make one.

Y’all also know that I love Goodwill Outlets for the deals. Most stuff is $1.39/lb, that is, all the clothing and anything cloth. The “wares” are not sold per pound, but are super cheap.

I went to the closest outlet and found a large golden yellow tablecloth. I thought, Yeah, yellow would go nicely with my greens. I got it, took it home and washed it.

As I was considering about making my shower curtain, I thought of some lace curtain pieces I had gotten. In looking through, I chose a white valance.

I measured out the yellow fabric, hemmed it, and sewed on the valance on the top. It looked good! I hung it.

I have some things with roses on them. Hmmm… I needed to do something to tie it all together.

The next week I visited the outlet again and found a piece of fabric with large roses on it. Perfect! It wasn’t long enough, but, it was wide enough to piece together for the proper length.

I matched up the floral pattern perfectly! It makes a great border and ties in the roses on the other things.

I won’t tell you the problems I created, but it all worked out in the end.

And, it was FAR cheaper than getting a ready made!!

I’m very pleased with my new shower curtain!

When I re-painted my white wicker pieces and put them back in, it just looks so fresh and perky!

Next: My flower swag!

  1. Love it. Very pretty. I have a very light green ceiling in dining room with about 2 or 3 shades darker on walls except for one wall which is a focal point & that is magenta broken up with white on mantle and all woodwork. I really like drama in a dining room!

    1. Hey Katie! Thanks for the comment, my friend. Your dining room sounds interesting. You have a mantle! I hope to have a fireplace in my next house! Of course, your house is very old, so, natch, it would have fireplaces! Lol.

  2. I love it, Cindy! I would not have thought to use those colours together, but it is beautiful! Definitely serene, but also quite arty, which I love. You make me reconsider my choices and risk more! Thank you, blessed woman! Hugs!

    1. Hey Deirdre!
O thank you for calling me a blessed woman!! I claim that!! Yes, I know God is blessing me.
Thanks for the comment. 🙂 I’m glad I can inspire you to be more “risky.” Lol. I didn’t know I was being risky! Lol. But, I’m glad you think it looks arty. 😀 Love you blessed woman!!!
