Hey Bohemians,
In your quest for bohemian threads, don’t discount the idea of making something from such textiles as dismantled throw pillows, couch cushions, curtains and drapes, tablecloths, pillowcases, and further unexpected fabric supplies.
Because I am prudent, I’m always on the lookout for attractive fabric wherever I may find it! …as long as it’s cheap—or, better yet—free!
My sources include thrift stores, thrift outlets—and boulevard shopping!
For those unaware of this invaluable commodity resource, here’s the scoop: While tooling through neighborhoods on or before garbage pick-up day, eyeball what others are discarding.
One man’s trash is another’s treasure!
I’ve found some cool stuff! …and, the price is JUST right!! Lol.
I recently got a comment from misskitty1222, who writes that she never would have thought to use a curtain on clothing. But, I have found many uses for unusual fabric sources.
Upholstery cloth, for instance, is a sturdy and durable fabric for projects which require wear-resistant material, as here, in this angel bag—combined with a pillow, in this example.
Not only curtains may be used on clothes, but, drapes can make a really unique bohemian winter skirt!
Save your scraps of cloth and things for other projects.
Disassembled throw pillows make excellent bags! Especially those with cool prints like these in the featured image, at the head of the post. 🙂
Lace curtains and tablecloths are very versatile! Use them in making gloves, embellishments. Try using them on skirts, or, in making a lace skirt!

Crocheted doilies are great embellishments on clothing, bags, etc. Make a shabby chic vest, or, even a romantic chair cover!
Discover the unique pieces you can make simply by combining articles of clothing to form a single garment.
Make bohemian skirts and wraps by re-purposing scarves, shawls, Indian saris, throws!
