Make a Simple but Effective Wall Hanging

And… maybe, best of all – IT’S CHEAP!

Hey creative bohemian types! 🙂

Here’s a short-but-very-sweet post.  …in my opinion. 😀

I’ve been re-doing my other bathroom.

It was undoubtedly awfully ugly: painted a boring creamy white with a shower curtain that didn’t go with the rest of the house, and walls and mirror that served as bulletin boards.

It was Jerry’s bathroom and he “decorated” it as he wished. My sweet, dear, beloved deceased hubby had NO sense of decorating ability- sorry, but it’s true.

Though he had no artsy decorating talent, his love for me could not be topped. I miss him so much! 🙁

I have to keep myself busy so I don’t feel so all alone:

When I’m home, I’m either on my computer – online, or doing something on Photoshop and Ipiccy, etc. – or, making something, or decorating, etc. I watch too many movies, but, I also like to craft as I watch, or, as I listen to music.

Anyway, I was racking my brain over what to put in a tall, narrow space by the toilet. 🙂 The way I painted the room was: using two colors – one a deep, dark, rich color, the other a pale gray.

I wanted a splash of color on the pale wall.

Voila! I had recently bought a beautiful fringed gossamer scarf at the Goodwill Outlet for literally pennies ($1.39/ lb). It, along with the picture over the towel rack, ties the bathroom to my rosy bedroom.

I found a cool twig to hang it from, draped it over the stick, but allowed some of the stick to show, hand sewed a couple of little stitches to hold it on the stick, tied a string as a hanger – and that’s it! I love it!!

I made my shower curtain, too.

On a later post I’ll show you the whole bathroom. First I want to do some more things in decorating it.

Later…

  1. Your new bathroom is so pretty. Love your ideas! Glad you have been keeping busy as I think it helps when you have had such a loss. Jerry sounds like a wonderful man.
I’m bushed as been busy all day until now when i read your post. I think your creativity gave me a boost but I’ll wait until morning before I do anymore, lol. Talk to you soon, Cindy. 😴🌞

    1. Hey Katie.
When you do projects – which I know you must do – you must share them with me! I know you’re creative and would love to be inspired by you!

Thank you for honoring me with your encouraging comments. They mean so much! And, yes, Jerry had one of the best hearts I’ve ever known. Not too many have the capability of such devotion and true friendship as he.

  2. Hey Cindy, nothing fun or really crafty, lately. I did make curtains for my barn out of drop clothes, lol. I just hung them over a pole for big window with hooks! No sewing involved. They do keep the sunlight out when too hot. Is that crafty or what??? & frugal.
I did make another crochet shawl or whatever you want to use it for. Over couch, over chair and very lacy ones over a doorway or perhaps a gorgeous scarf hung on twig like you did for your latest bathroom remodel which I love!!! I dont know what’s happened to me but over the last few years I’ve developed a love affair with shawls! I like lacy light weight for summer or dressy occasions and longer warmer ones for winter. I’m not sure why I feel so feminine wearing them?
Garden takes up a bit of my time plus herbs and flowers.
My husband spray foamed our barn. That will keep moisture out & unwanted critters out. Cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
Only problem is its ugly. So hubby is putting up barn wood looking paneling. I cant help to much with that due to health but I’m the clean up girl. Lucky me, lol but happy to do it so I can decorate the loft. I will put my old Singer machine up there as end table. I got that idea from YOU.
I think people are creative in everything they do. Cooking, baking… Even cleaning!!! I think you can find ways to make it creative instead of drudgery. Well Cindy have to go back to work & so glad you are keeping busy & so very creative. I just ❤ your blog!

    1. Hey Katie,

I’m sorry I’m late replying. I didn’t see it till now.

You are such an encouragement to me!!! I so appreciate hearing from you nearly regularly. I wish I had a whole bunch of you cloned! Lol. I could surely use a bunch of encouragers like you. <3

I'm a shawl person, too, and I feel the same way: that it makes me feel more feminine.

Congrats on the progress of your barn, and the frugality and smartness of your drop-cloth curtains! 🙂

I recently rescued a lot of peace lilies that someone was throwing out! I talked to the lady whose yard they were in, and she rolled her eyes, saying her daughter thought they should have a more "manicured yard." O, brother! I didn't say it, but, I thought, Who's yard is this anyway?! She told me, "Take 'em all!" I was walking, so I went back with the car and took nearly all of them and some shrimp plants. I got really hot and dirty planting my rescues, but I enjoyed digging in the dirt! 😀 This morning on my walk, I saw they were throwing out asparagus fern. I went back for 'em.

I'm so glad you took one of my ideas...well, it's not TRULY originally my idea. 🙂 https://diybohemian.com/create-an-end-table-from-an-antique-sewing-machine-base/

Lol, well, I don’t know how to be too creative with cleaning! I don’t like it, but it does feel good when it’s done.

Thank you for calling me creative, and, for loving my blog. You and others like you keep me going. <3

      Love and blessings,
      Cindy

      1. Cindy, Lucky you about the plants! It never hurts to ask. I’ve been getting creative ideas left & right. I will share soon. Been working all day. Back hurts a little & I know I’ll get leg cramps but it was all worth it. Maybe some day you can visit me. I’m not that far away.
I’ll try to join you on FB when I can. Then I could share pictures. This just is our very busy season. Winter i have a lot of time.
Have you seen your sister much?
Well this is the 1st time I got on any device & I’ll get to your other topics tomorrow.
Love & best wishes, dear Cindy. 💘
