Mixing Prints

Hey y’all!

Dress to entertain yourself. But, in the meantime, you could give those around you a kick.

Hey y’all!

Style is what you make it!

Style is what you want to wear!

Your style comes from within you; it resides there; it is an innate quality of your individual soul.

Be who you are; allow your real self to come to the surface!

Style is not the latest fad.

Style is not what you admire on others…or, what’s in the stores, or in mags, or on Pinterest…or, what’s on the runway in NY and Paris!

No, your own style is an expression of your person, your nature, your identity; it represents you!

Fashion, on the other hand, is other people’s ideas of what you should wear.

The designers, the big department stores, all tell you, This is what’s “in” this season, and if you’re not wearing it, you’re outa style!

Ha!!! They won’t dictate to me what is my style! I’ll wear what I please, thank you! And, you should, too! 😀

The fashion industry is greased with $. Don’t buy into their propaganda!

Instead, Create Your Own Style!

Be Funky, Be Fabulous, Be Frugal! 😀

When you find yourself, you will tell you what style you are!

If you want to dress like me, I’m flattered. Howev… I want you to dress like you!

With my blog, I’m not asking or encouraging you to copy me. I’m me. I want you to be you!

What I want to do, here, is to inspire you to be bold and be yourself. Don’t let others tell you who you are!

Be the person you were created to be!

“Fashion you can buy, but style you possess. The key to style is learning who you are, which takes years. There’s no how-to road map to style. It’s about self expression and, above all, attitude.” —Iris Apfel.

When I found this character called Iris, I became an instant fan! This 94-year-old is as courageous as a gallant warrior.

She is spunky! She doesn’t care about the opinions of others. She will dress just as she daggone pleases!

Getting to know yourself takes life experience.

She says, “There is really no substitute for experience. You must have experience and be open to experience — that helps. That helps a lot.

“Most importantly, you have to be yourself, be who you are and take time to be open and honest with yourself. That is what it’s all about.

“If you don’t know yourself, you’ll never have great style. You’ll never really live. To me, the worst fashion faux pas is to look in the mirror, and not see yourself.”

Fashion Rules Are Meant to be Broken!

  • Solid colors make a classier statement
  • Never wear prints and stripes, etc., together.
  • White is for summer
  • Your earrings and necklace (singular) must be a matching set
  • Either go gold or silver; don’t mix your jewelry
  • The less ornaments, the better
  • Your shoes, belt and bag should match

Eh-eh! Nope! Nah!

I say, Be creative!

Break the rules!

If your personality is playful, make a game of your dressing time! Move the pieces around!

For the artsy, create a work of art each time you dress!

You are an individual! Show the world your individuality!

No one else is like you, so, why look like everybody else?!!

Go ahead, wear stripes and print together!

In my youth, I didn’t know who I was! I just drifted along in the stream of life with all the other plain-clothes-wearers.

“Course I wore a T-shirt in the water, but I wore a T-shirt mosta the time, anyway.

I look back and think, Yuck! I dressed in boring clothes.

Not knowing my personal color palette, I often wore the wrong colors for my skin and hair. So, I nearly always looked, well, let’s say, not my best.

I actually wore polyester! (Perish the thought!)

I didn’t even know what style was—let alone my style!

Then, in my late 30s/ early 40s, I started to be attracted to “different.”

I had always been shy, not wanting to stand out. But, I got to the point of: Hey! If I want to wear different, then, who cares what people will think; I’ll be different if I want to!

I also discovered what my colors were. It all added up to a better, cooler me! 😀

Have some fun with your clothes!

I’m so much cooler now! Lol. Too bad I can’t have youth and style at the same time!! Lol.
