Tell “Sameness” to Take a Hike!

Diversity is the Key!

What? …never wearing the same outfit again?!

Can you wrap your monotony around that?

Too often, autopilot takes over when we reach into our closets: Indifference seizes—and freezes—our imaginations.

But how can one possibly take that idea seriously?

It’s not as impossible as it may seem.

No, you don’t have to have loads of clothes—

though it helps! Lol!

As I’ve said before, our choices in clothing and accessories establish a trend in our closets and dressers: Certain colors prevail; particular styles dominate our wardrobes—causing more to go with each.

Whether you realize it or not, your distinctive personality shapes your collection of apparel.

My sweet friend Vicki and I are as different as night and day when it comes to our clothing preferences.

Though we are closer than sisters in our spiritual walk and in many other respects, she is an easy-going,  comfort-above-all-else, casual-wear type of a gal.

Vicki’s style (but not Vicki)

She is not particularly interested in accessories—except for small earrings, and goes for sensible shoes and serviceable-yet-attractive purses.

As you know, I, on the other hand, love unconventional style and want to be

different from the crowd—which doesn’t mean either of us is right or wrong—we’re simply different that way.

I thrive  on the uncommon.

We—all of us, are each, special individuals, with our own set of likes and dislikes. It’s what brings variety in this world. And, we’ve all heard that variety is the spice of life!

That’s why we should never be cookie-cutter women! You can bring diversity into your own, personal world with your own flavor: Don’t be a peanut butter cookie because others are… Be a spice-cake bar!

Granted, variation is not as easily accomplished if you’re like Vicki (no offense, dear friend!), with fewer add-ons. But, because you are reading this post, you must be more like me, therefore, diversity is a more feasible feat.

When I advise that you should never have to wear the same outfit again, that’s an admonishment to be taken lightly.  Certainly, if you’ve created an outfit you love and want to wear it again, it is your prerogative to do so!

What I’m proposing is to not be bound to specific ensembles when you have the option of changing things up.

For instance, put a little bit more thought into creating

your outfits: Instead of reaching for the same pieces that go together, choose a different top for that pant or skirt.

The advantage of bohemian styles is, we tend to overload (on purpose!): wearing multiple layers, adorning ourselves with gobs of jewelry, etc.

So, by adding another—or, a different—skirt layer, or changing your jewelry options, your bag, your shoes, putting on a vest, throwing on a hat, you can totally transform your look!

Be blessed, my family!
