My Reply to Mari:

Aw, Mari!! Thanks for grouping me with Iris Apfel!! Wow! That’s quite a compliment!! I love her audacity!!!

Wow!!!

I’m somebody’s idol!!!!

Wow! Wow!

WOW!!

Mari, once I decided that I didn’t care about what others thought about the way I dressed, then it became very easy to just wear what I wanted to wear, to let my imagination go wild!!

It’s amazing that when I finally made that decision, I was pleasantly surprised at the positive comments I’ve gotten—not only online, but in person.

Yet, I suppose some people probably still look at me wondering what in the world I’m doing wearing that stuff! Lol!

I don’t look around to see if people are looking: I think that’s an arrogant thing to do. But, Jerry—my hubby, says that people always look at me.

I agree with Ms. Iris: I don’t dress for the attention—NOPE!, I dress for me—just cuz it’s more fun than dressing like everybody else!!! They all look SO BORING!!!!! Lol.

Blessings,
Cindy

As Mari said, she has the clothes but doesn’t mix them like I do.

Yes, it’s not so much the articles of clothing that make for unconventional outfits, though that certainly plays a role in dressing “bohemian.”

It’s your creativity in the way you put things together!

Thrift shops have tons of clothes! My thing is: Find unusual items at cheap prices, and be creative with them!

So, you’re being imaginative AND frugal!

On top of that, refashion some things to make them your own individual style!

You Are Unique!

Do y’all have any idea how special each of you are?

Do you ever stop and think that not one other person that is living today—of the billions of people anywhere around the globe—or, anywhere in the universe, if, indeed, other peoples exist—

no one

is made like you?

Not one other person who has ever lived in the history of humankind was another you. No…not one! You are “fearfully and wonderfully made!”

You are one of a kind!

So, why in the world, would you want to look like everybody else??!

Celebrate You!

Any of you who has a hunger to reinvent your look—because you haven’t been true to you, simply HAS to act on that desire!

Don’t Suppress Your Creativity!

The desires placed in your heart were embedded in your  spirit when you were created.

When you—your spirit—found an

earthly home in a baby’s little body, and your personality began to develop as your body grew, your innate inclinations and aspirations took root and begged to be allowed to bloom!

That’s why, I believe, we go through seasons of frustration and seeking: The real you wants to express yourself!

I believe that’s why we are not content until we are doing what we were intended to be and do!

Don’t Settle!

Find Your Place

And, I say that for more than just the fashion style point of view.

Some of you, like me, are late bloomers. But, that doesn’t mean we won’t bloom at all!

When I was a little girl, my definite aspiration was to be an artist!

Along the way, I tried various arts: I started out, as a child, mainly, drawing, but I was only fair. I did well in high school art class, though.

But, when I see the work of true artists—like my Facebook friend Annie, I have to take my hat off to her

talent—that is, my bohemian hat! Lol. Annie is a high school art teacher at McAuley Catholic High School in Joplin, Missouri.

Another of my talented friends lives in South Africa:

Santie Amery is another fantastic artist!

Santie’s site is droomwoorde… where you can see more of her amazing art.

In my search to fulfill my creative yearnings, I learned photography and dark room. This was in the days of film and photographic paper and chemicals that developed them!

I still love photography but haven’t been too active in it lately.

More recently, I’ve done photo restoration.

Working at newspapers as a stringer photog, I “fell into” writing, which led me into publications: freelancing for local newspapers

and statewide and national magazines. Unfortunately, that dwindled—which, brings me to blogging.

I blog about my newest creative love: unconventional wear, an “art” which  I’ve been coming into over the years.

Creativity in style is what seems to be my best “art,” as it has gotten the most notice.

I’ve even been called “a Wardrobe Artist!” by my friend Kim Verrochi.

…and, now, I’m one of Mari Hill’s “idols!!”

Be Who You Are!

What I’d really LOVE to see is…

for you to forget other peoples’ reactions, and just do your thang!!

Don’t be intimidated by what others think or say!!

Just be yourself!

You don’t HAVE to dress in a conventional way! Get out there and “wild yourself up” a little!

We don’t have to be like everybody else!!

You are an individual created to be only you!

So…

BE YOU!!

  1. Love your originality! Unfortunately I always wear black jeans but I’m getting more adventurous when it comes to tops. Trying to ditch the tee shirt and wear shirts instead. Maybe even some Medieval tunics. Will read your blog for tips…

    1. Hey AJ! Thanks for the comment. 🙂

I really like the idea of Medieval tunics! Like Robin Hood, right? and the movie, “A Knight’s Tale?” Luvvitt!

Thanks for your confidence in my opinions, howev, I write to women, but, guys are always welcome…so, I probably won’t have tips for guys. Sorry…

      Blessings,
      Cindy

        1. Lol. I had to look him up, AJ. The storyline surrounding this character looks fascinating! The actor portraying Jon Snow is very appealing and enchanting-looking with his Medieval appearance. 🙂

Get yourself a suit of armor and throw a big fur cape around your shoulders!!
